A standard wainscoting installation includes a cap rail (or chair rail) along the top edge and a baseboard along the bottom, each spanning the wall's full length — so total trim length is simply the wall length counted twice, once for each rail.

A shorter 10-foot wall using narrower 24-inch panels needs panels = ceil(120 / 24) = 5 panels exactly, with trim = 10 × 2 = 20 linear feet — a reminder that panel count and trim length scale independently: panel count depends on panel width, while trim length depends only on the wall's length.
