A week has no astronomical parent at all; seven days is a human convention with roots in Babylonian sky-watching and Sabbath observance, adopted across the Roman world by the fourth century. A year, by contrast, is Earth's own orbit — and even that needs pinning down, since a true orbit runs about 365.2422 days while the civil calendar rounds to 365.2425 and astronomers' reference year, the Julian year, fixes it at exactly 365.25 days for calculation purposes.
This sheet uses that Julian year, 31,557,600 seconds, because it gives a clean, defined ratio rather than a seasonal approximation. A week's 604,800 seconds divides into it to give 0.0191649555099 years per week — the exact fraction 28/1461. That denominator is no accident: 1,461 days is precisely four Julian years (4 × 365.25), the same cycle that gives the Julian calendar its leap day once every four years without exception.
