Pick up the pace to a very fast 5 to 5.5 mph power walk for the same hour and the MET value jumps to 8.5: 8.5 x 70 x 1 = 595.0 kcal — nearly four times the calorie burn for the same person and the same 60 minutes, purely from walking speed.
